What's the fastest way to get to Harbour Centre from SFU?

edited January 2014 in General
From Burnaby campus that is.
1. Taking the 144 down to Sperling then skytrain and transfer at Commercial.
2. Taking the 145 down to Production then skytrain and transfer at Commercial.
3. Taking the 135 down to Burrard then skytrain.
4. Teleporting
5.Walking

I have an hour to get to Habour Centre for an evening class. So this is taking into account bus frequency, available seats, traffic etc.

Thanks a lot :)

  • I would prefer less transfers just in case of any delays that could cause me to be late. But then again I always see the 135 line fricken huge and packed as FUCK. So I'd rather have a seat so I can nap during the commute or study if I need to.
  • 145, millenium line, expo line as per trip planning on translink.
  • Buy a car
  • I would think the 135 would be best. I see the trip planner says the 145 route is 1 minute faster, but with all the transfers I bet it will usually be slower. Plus transferring in general kinda sucks.

I'm not sure what you mean about the 135 always being so full. I rode it almost every day last semester and practically always got a seat.

One problem with the 135 though is that it sometimes encounters bad traffic on Hastings. Not often, but often enough that over the course of a semester I could see it possibly causing you to be late at some point. The other route might be more reliable, pending sky train problems.
  • @Flash I do have a car but that would be so much gas going up and down SFU and all the way downtown plus stupid parking $.

I just tried the 135 today and it took about 54 minutes more or less. Seemed like forever though. I think SkyTrain might be faster due to skipping all the traffic, but then again 145 production you NEVER get a seat and that would suck because I had a pretty good nap today.

@Ryan You're right, I guess you really only don't get a seat if you catch it at the Trans Centre instead of the Bay.
  • 135 can take as fast as around 30 minutes....however, its usually around 50 minutes and can take up to an hour when its really busy.

  • Teleporting would be your best bet but the cost of runes really adds up throughout the term
  • Yes, 135 is usually less of a pain and maybe 5 minutes slower than Skytrain/transfer routes.
  • Ugggh I think imma just walk guys!
  • And there's always taking your bike -- this IS the super-fit West Coast...
  • Can't. Not a hipster.
  • Just close your eyes and imagine that you are over in Harbour Centre. Even though you're still still over at the Burnaby campus, imagination solves everything!

Imagine that A, hassle free without having to deal with assignments, essays, and exams.
  • @Kevin_CMNS I did that last time and I just ended up in Riverview Hospital diagnosed with schizophrenia.
