Can I substitute grades?

edited December 2013 in General
Like, let's say I failed a Computing Science course (got an F on CMPT 120). But later on, a few semesters later, I take Communications 110 and get an A. Can I have the A from CMNS 110 go towards the Computing Science F? The CMNS 110  grade will then become F while the CMPT 120 grade will become A.

Afterwards, I plan to retake CMNS 110 to get A so I get an A in both courses. Would that work? I don't see why not since both courses are in the same university (SFU).
