  • Ask around the comp Sci common room apparently they have a bunch of old exams there.
  • cool thanks ill try that, but in the meantime i'd be willing to pay for a recent copy if anyone had one!!

  • bump......still looking!!
  • Who is the prof?
I don't have past exams but when I took it with Hadley, he asked super specific questions, like names and dates. But overall, it was not difficult, he did not ask anything he did not write in notes.
  • I have Pearce but thanks I'll keep that in mind cuz I heard his exams are similar if not identical to other profs
  • Pearce is usually very clear about what he tests. If he ever mentions in class that something will be tested, he means it.
  • There isn't typically a large pool of final exams floating around. If the prof doesn't provide you with one and a google search doesn't turn one up you are usually SOL.

I think now your best bet is just to study. CMPT 320 is not a terribly difficult class either so you should do fine.
  • i hear you.  I just thought i'd try to find someone. it's not that i thought there was a big bunch of final exams available, it's just that Pearce jokes constantly about those who have the final from previous years ace it.... that's all.  was just looking for any help to make the studying a bit lighter ;)
  • Hi muzzon, did you pass the course?
Do you want to argue about the grade?
  • @muzzon, the grades were brutal. Judging from my grade, i guess lots of people failed.
  • haha i did ok all i needed was a C- to get the credits and i got better than that. but ya that class was a bit of a joke, the questions on exams were way to specific and irrelevant to any real learning. like the question about the video we watched on the very first day of class that had no words in the entire thing, then he asked what sociologist was it based on, or whatever like wtffff?? anyways glad its over with...im surprised he sent out an email saying that he thought the grades were abysmal when he said in past years the class avg. was about 55% and i believe ours was 53%, so not much diff.
  • glad i took this in spring!
  • Haha, he sent out an email to the 300 class saying "I see that most of you had access to previous exams.  The average for the class was anomalously high so I am not sympathetic to exam viewing at all." Last year he sent an email saying "dear annoying students, do not email me about arbitrarily bumping your marks up, or i will drop them."
    pearce emails...
  • I'm taking two classes with this professor next semester, 300 and 320. Does anyone have any tips or resources how to prep for them? Especially 320.
  • Lol 300 is a joke. Just go to all the classes, if he says some thing is important he means it. It's all ppts, know the important slides for the midterm and final and you'll be fine. It's really easy.
  • @rahman @kyyd
Did you guys do well in this course?
I want to go to cmpt office to argue about our grades because I think this course was totally unfair
may be you guys were passed, but I think we might be able to get a higher grade if we can talk to the office
If anyone interest on that, please contact me
    email: Jaylee12345@hotmail.com
  • @kyyd Wow at that email....I think I might drop the course now if the average is that low and the professor is an asshole.  I'm taking 320 next semester but am reconsidering it now.
  • I took 320 with Pearce couple semesters ago. Final was a killer and I ended up with final grade of D. sigh...
He did point out what's going to be on the final and so on, but the questions were way too detailed and specific. I may have to take this course again.
  • @lifeishard,
If it's not mandatory for you, think twice. From what I get and my place in the class, I guess class average is C-

you won't learn much in his class, but you might get a better grade in his 300 with less effort and less learning. I took 300 with him and swaped it in the first week.

  • @ABC123ABC
Sorry man, I can't go with you, I am going out of town today
I did pretty bad in 320. passed with a bad grade. It was a mandatory for me and he is the only prof offering this course, so I had no choice but to take this shit(total waste of money)

  • @rahman

I decide to talk to the prof first and then if it doesn't work I probably would go talk to the dean
but I will wait till the school open
if you coming back after school open and want to join you can come
    anyways, enjoy your holiday dude
