Do you ever go to your prof's office hour?

edited December 2013 in General

I was recently  reading one of those "how to be a successful student" blog posts and one of the suggestions was to make sure to go to the professor's office hour.

That made me think -- do people actually go to office hours these days?   If so, how useful was it?

What would make you not want to go?  Do you get in touch with your prof in a different (ie better) way? Is your prof NOT having office hours and you'd like one?

  • why not?

I just had final project done and going to the office asking question for clarification or tips for the project was very helpful.

  • Yes, if I have an important question.  Some profs even give out hints for midterms/finals if only a couple students show up.
  • Yes I go there just to chit chat (obviously when there's no students around) but yeah it makes a good impression of you plus some of the profs I like I actually talk more about their life outside of university and academics.
  • Only to the hot ones, to engage in discreet office sexual intercourse.

Besides that, I basically never go because I never really have any questions. And if I did, I would just need to study to find them out or if it's a question or problem I can't figure out I just e-mail them from the comfort of my own home. The only time I went to office hours to actually get help was for an ECON class but you would get why. I don't really feel a need to go for other Arts courses.

I went to a really sexy prof's office hours once just to say hi the first week (I always introduce myself to profs on the first day) and it seemed like this prof didn't really care and was just like uhhh.. okay gtfo lol. But the prof was actually a really nice and really helpful easy prof, and super hot, guess the prof just wasn't interested at the time. Or was too turned on and was trying to resist the unethical desires.
