Assuming you mean CMPT 165/120, I would not take either of those unless you actually have an interest in computing or some background in web development/programming. Both are easy courses (165 more so than 120) but are not so easy that you could get an A with little effort and no prior experience.
If you read around there are a lot of people who take 165 thinking it is an easy A and are sorely disappointed. 165 as a GPA booster is really just a notion perpetuated by computing students who found it easy and assume it would be easy for anyone.
I've taken a few. Depends on the language and if you know any other languages, and if you're interested in that sort of thing. If you have no interest, I wouldn't bother. German, French and Spanish wouldn't be very difficult if English is your first language. I can't say much about any other language courses though.
HSCI 130. pretty much any health science class. they're a joke. educ 220 with nesbit is pretty easy too, no need to go to lecture, the midterms are based just straight off from the textbook. there's a paper required and it's kind of a matter of opinion essay so it's pretty damn easy
@csguy I took CRIM 104 online with Cartwright and I would definitely recommend it. Each week there are online lectures and online tutorials. The lectures are just like a real in-class lecture except you can do it in bed. Its a 40 minute or so video with notes on the screen (the same notes he gives the in-class students) while he talks over it explaining each concept. The tutorials consist of an online tutorial video (same idea as the online lectures) then a game and flashcards. Doing the game and flashcards = 10% for "participation" then there is an easy 5 question quiz worth 10% on the lecture/tutorials.
The term paper was pretty short (5 - 6 pages) and the mid-term and final were both 10 M/C questions, 5 T/F questions, 5 definition questions and 1 short answer question. Definitely an easy class *if* you put in the effort, if you slack off then you blew the opportunity to get an A.
Good info. Will look into this Crim 104 for next year. So you recommend to take the online version with Cartwright? You gain the advantage not having to go to class pretty much?
I recomend online over in-class, the online version is the exact same as his in-class version (notes, requirments, textbook, etc) except you get the benefit of doing lectures in bed compared to having to go to SFU
How do you write direct replies? Its so annoying to go up and down checking nicknames and writing it. I wish talk SFU had something like retweet button where you can reply right below.
Whatever crim course you take. ALWAYS go for the Barry. (cartwright). Rule of thumb. He's on sabbatical right now though so you might not get him until next year.
Put Crim 104 as my elective to pick either next fall or spring. Iat 100 for my b-hum and I'm done with all my electives. My last year is going to be sweet. Only 3 classes for next fall/spring.
@lakerfanatic why do people divide by 2 though? isn'it it the same shit. and yeah you're exactly right about the grading scheme for the exam I remember it clearly too.
