  • Nope the old grade gets replaced with the new one. If you plan on transferring schools some will take the average of the two.
  • Thanks. If I do the course for the third time does it count as a second repeat out of the 5 we have in a degree program? Also the 5 repeats is only for that degree program right? If I switch to another degree program do I still have 5 repeats?
  • You only get 5 repeats, you only get five more if you graduate, and then start a second degree. And you can only repeat a class 3 times with advisor approval. And yes it will count as another repeat.
  • what if you get a lower grade the 2nd try? Do they take the latest try then or the higher grade?
  • They take the higher mark. If you get a lower mark you should be very concerned about your study habits..
  • Just out of curiosity, what happens if someone uses up all 5 repeats. Is that person never allowed to go to SFU forever anymore?
  • No youre just stuck with an F on your transcript, and youd probably be better of switching programs. (story of my sfu life...)
  • But what if you're out of repeats and the person needs the class for a pre-req. then he can't move forward in his/her major and has to withdraw SFU and start from the beginning???? I heard someone who had 6 repeats before though also.
  • You can seek special permission from the program to retake additional courses. Apparently they do not approve all requests though.
  • If you've failed 5 courses in a program you should probably switch.
  • ^Yeah obviously, but what if you don't wanna.
