In general you need to either have a medical emergency that prevents you from fulfilling the requirements of the course, Unexpected change in employment that prevents you from doing course work, Or on compassionate grounds due to a death in the family/stuff like that.
On the flip side something like doing poorly on a test will not be seen as a valid reason by itself.
I did it once, it took like 2 or 3 weeks after I handed in the form. I don't know what the approval rate is but if you have a doctors notes and all the forms signed by a doctor saying why you have to drop, they can't really just be like "thats a stupid reason, your doctor doesn't know what he/she is doing"... so as long as you have a doctors explanation I dont think they will reject it
Took a month or so but mine was medical, so my evidence was really strong considered I have a doctor's note and all. The main thingis your supporting documents and your personal letter. In your personal letter make sure you follow the format shown on the guideline and demonstrate your answer as related to the question (Such as why didn't you drop before the deadline, what prevented youfrom continuing with the course, did you talk to your instructors, what are your future plans, etc.) If you need help you can always book an appointment to see an academic advisor and they'll be happy to assist you with your letter and application process.
