  • I took this course and it was TERRIBLE. The midterm was 10 M/C questions and 1 essay question and the final was 10 M/C, 2 S/A and 1 essay. You have to study SO much material just for 10 multiple choice questions that were really detailed. The essay wasn't even on one of the broad main topics, it was something really specific. Terrible course, shouldn't have taken it

  • ^I agree I had the same. I took it with Robert Hanlon and he knows his stuff and is very organized and I had the exact same format exams which was not that bad. Didn't even read the textbook and lectures don't really help much though but I still did well with a B. Really boring material imo though. But for a W class it is defs one of the easier W's because all I had to do was a 10 page research paper, simple.
  • Mine had two papers, I dont remember the page numbers but neither were that long. But 2 papers and 2 exams is quite a heavy workload considering the amount of readings as well. The TA marked really hard. I ended up with a B-, the highest final grade given was a B+
  • hmm interesting, that was what i was worried about, i don't know what i should study, I'm taking notes from the readings but theres so much random crap in the text seems like a waste of time.
  • ya I know what you mean. The multiple choice of only 10 means you gotta study ALL that random crap cuz you don't know which one it's gonna be on while the written stuff is probably so broad and vague that you don't even need the readings to do and just good common sense, write well and good at bullshitting with a decent knowledge of modern social issues I guess.
  • ok thanks for your help! i never should have takin this class.  i am fourth year biochem but i was hoping for an easy grade lol, did you have the textbook called studying politics: an introduction to political science?
  • lol ya poli sci is never a really easy grade because you need to already have in interest and some knowledge in its content to do somewhat well. And yes I had that textbook.
  • oh great i have no interest and no knowledge lol oh well haha
  • sfu sucks. cant wait to get out
  • it would be okay i guess if i didnt have to pay for it and my parents let me drive up there with a bmw...lol a girl can dream
  • Mercedes*. I keep seeing this white Mercedes Benz with nice rims every time I go to school at Burnaby campus it's really weird. I also saw it take literally 20mins. no exaggeration to reverse stall park in Lot E.
  • hahaha! im not surprised
  • a hot* girl can dream btw?...
  • 101 is stupid, take POL 100 if you really want an easy grade. Also Political Science is useless, for anyone wanting to major in this stupid crap I say go UBC or any other school besides SFU

  • 101 is the exact same as 100 but the W version.

Poli Sci isn't that useless btw at least not as useless as like History or English or something like that. I had a friend who was making $18 as a political assistant just going door to door with an MLA. May not sound like much but when you really become an official public servant you can make a lot cuz gov't likes to give them our tax dollars for shit.
  • ^^Or embezzle public funds, receive kickbacks, and not report expenses or place of residence for housing benefits?
  • Exactly. Thank you for laying out how the Senate operates.
