Well if those classes will potentially interfere with your work the employer needs to know. Plus as long as you don't have to miss much or any work for class they will almost certainly say yes. I remember the coop department having a thing where you say how many classes you are taking and if you have permission. Last thing you would want is to lie to your employer then have the truth come out during a site visit.
