Is this even possible?

edited July 2013 in General
Hey everyone, I enrolled in CMPT 470 last wednesday and was put on waitlist position 6.  I checked throughout the week and no one has dropped the course so my position remained the same.  This morning I went on to check my position and saw I was bumped down to position 8.  How is this possible?  Am I not understanding how waitlist works?

  • I've never seen that happen before...weird. The only explanation I can give is that someone with more privilege than you got added to the wait list. Perhaps they had contacts in the department, or a fourth year student nearing graduation.
  • Yeah, probably someone in their last semester needed the course. Sucks though
  • Hmmm that is so weird that you ask this question because my friend at Kwantlen had the same thing happen to her and just texted me about it. Woah. Weird. SFU x Kwantlen conspiracy?
  • Haha yes its indeed strange as everyone I've talked to hasn't had any similar problems.  Well, it's all good now because they decided to increase the class size by 10 so I was able to enroll.
  • How do they increase the class size? Do they randomly build new chairs in the lecture hall or add a couple of stools or something. I mean cuz you would think they would make the class size the maximum possible from the get-go.
  • They increase the class size by forcing extra students to stand in the back. I'm serious...this happens all the time when they "supposedly increase the class size".

  • great shit! How it can be possible???
