Do you think this is realistic? TRANSFER TO BUSINESS FROM COMPUTING SCIENCE.

edited July 2013 in General
i'm trying to transfer to business from computing science, but I received C+ on math 151, but i got B+ on math 158. The academic advisor told me that i can take math 157 as a repeat of math 151. it would definitely boost my gpa and i'm pretty sure that i can get an easy A or B+ for sure. But I already have taken econ 103 with allen, and i received C on econ 103. the comptetive gpa for business was 3.1 ~ 3.2. Also, the beedie school only allows 2 repeats of lower division requirement courses. Do you think this is realistc? or Should i just major ecnomics, and mjnor business?

  • Go with your heart. If you truly believe that you were meant to join the ranks of the business majors, then do it.

There's nothing worse than thinking you can't do it, and then leaving behind regrets. If there is a possibility, go for it. There's no need to think this over, just aim for the business department, you sound like you have a plan...so all that's left is to go for it.
  • All I gotta say is. Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and all of them other motherfuckers. But then I again maybe you should stick to comp sci major and get ur MBA at another time for maximum power over 9000
  • if you take 157 you need to get a B+ minimum to be considered in cmpt. take a cmpt course and see if you like it. It took me all of first year to find that i love cmpt. And i switched from econ major
  • @BeAnBeAn That's very good advice, just saiyan

Saiyan...you know, in conjunction with your 9000 comment, get it? LOLOLOLOL
  • JUST SAIYAN. HAHAHAHAHAHA. never heard of that.

ohhhhh and then I read the second line..... which is the explanation.... which ruined the joke....
  • The explanation made me LOL
  • All I can say is that I've never worked harder in my 3 years of post secondary than on those 9 lower division required courses to transfer into Beedie...

It seems like you still have a ways to go in terms of the other lower required courses (accounting, stats, macro, MIS, OB etc)...

and I'll tell you right now that in order for me to get the A's and B's i've received in those courses, took not only a lot of work and sacrifice, but a genuine desire to get into Business Faculty.

It's competitive for a reason, because it's meant to mimic the business world ("where only the top succeed" - still don't really agree with this, but whatever)

So the first question you need to ask yourself, is do you really want the business major?
If you don't have that fire under your belly, you'll find yourself struggling to get good good grades in arduous and uninteresting classes (like MIS in my opinion)... and since you can only do two repeats, you might want to think rationally about how realistic it would be for you to get that 3.10 or + GPA to transfer in.

I'm not saying it's not possible, you might just have a knack for those courses, but remember they're all bell-curved too, so slacking is never a good idea.

    good luck
  • Lmao. How scared is OP now lol
