About the ECON 103 textbook, please help

It says in the course outline: "Parkin, Michael and Robin Bade, " 8th Edition with Access Code , ISBN 978-0-321-80838-7". 
Do we really need the access code? cause some used books don't have it.
And why there are books with the exactly same edition but different ISBN? Is that still okay?
