Would you recommend distant education?

edited June 2013 in General
I am going to take 4 courses for fall term, and half of the courses can only be taken through distance education.
It's humanity 102w and cmpt 165.

so basically I am taking 2 courses at school and 2 courses at home.

I want to take all courses at school if it's possible, but all courses that I want to or need to take overlap my prerequisite courses.

However, I have never taken distant education, not even online course at high school.

What do you think of distant education? would you recommend it?

I am pretty disciplined so being lazy at home isn't a problem for me.

  • Math courses are obvs harder online so if cmpt 165 is math it will be harder. I hear good and bad with dist. ed. but mostly good. Google some reviews and see if they are any good. If you can't find any it is a hit and miss. Really imo, the ONLY thing with dist. ed. is self-discipline/motivation. Which I lack on the latter. That's why I pay 100% attention in lectures because I am lazy, when I'm at home.
  • Only if you can keep your concentration and not doodle off on watching porn
  • Or, multi-task.
  • cmpt 165 was fairly easy.  I had no computer science background.  If you understand the basic code they use to create websites, it will be a walk in the park for you.
  • yes, that is why I chose cmpt 165 for DE since I am familiar with programming language.
I don't know about hum 102w though. I just needed to take a writing course and I couldn't find one that fits my time schedule.

  • If you just need a W course, I took POL 101W online. It was fairly easy, just really boring
