Failing a core course required for a degree

edited May 2013 in General
My CGPA is decent at 3.34 but I am having trouble with one particular course. What happens if I fail a core course? Will I still be able to receive my degree? Or will I have to retake that course until I get a passing grade?

  • as long as its not a requirement to your degree and your cgpa is above 2.0 (i think depending on your dpt) then its fine. but i would advise taking that course again since an F really lowers your gpa by more than you would like it to.
  • it is a required course. i haven't failed it yet. its an engineering course so if the rest of the class does poorly i may end up with a C+ if i'm lucky. the main problem is that i took the prerequisite course almost two years ago while everybody else took it maybe two semesters ago.
  • better get busy reviewing the material then. you're going to have to pass that course in order to get your degree
  • You can retake that course if you fail it until you pass. For your third retake for the same course, you will need permission from the department.
