PDP - Anyone In It?

edited November 2006 in General
Just wondering if anyone floating around here is in or was in PDP?

I'm going to be applying next year once I hit the 70-something credits required, but I'm getting a little paranoid if I'll be admitted or not!

So if you were admitted, how did you do it? Any tips or hints that might help me have an edge on the other applicants?

Yeah, I'm working on finding a position in a school. Apparently some schools don't like to take on classroom volunteers as they're a bit of a burden on the teachers... so that's a bummer...

I was disappointed to find that other volunteer experience doesn't really count!

if you're even in the education building, there's a lot of teacher postings asking for volunteers.

Besides PDP, has anyone here taken ENGL 199 Intro to Univ Writing? I may take it next semestre but I am a horrible essay writer and slow book reader. Any suggestions on how to succeed in ENGL 199?

You might want to post that in a new thread as I'll bet it would get you more responses than it will tucked in here. :)
  • Does anyone here know how the evaluation system works at SFU for the PDP intake? I applied for the PDP program and have received the following ratings: Written assignment 2.5, Work experience/resume 2.5, Letter of reference 2.0, Academic preparedness 2.0, GPA 3.0.  I am on a long waitlist right now. Any advise on how I can bump up my scores? I got two nicely written letters of reference from the two teachers that I helped in an elementary school. I don't know why I recd only 2.0 on the references. I did not do the Educ, Kineseology and Fine arts courses as I was told those were optional. Maybe that's why my academic preparedness score is low. Any other advise? What do they see in the written assignment? How do I increase my score there?
