Do you use your Econ book in the class or do you just read it at home?

edited April 2013 in General
Hey guys I have Econ 103 with Irina Dudnyk (I hope I've spelt her name correctly) and I found a Economic Principles (the book that's required) online. Now there are two problems, first being the fact that the required edition is the 5th edition and the one I found is the 7th edition. And secondly, it's not an original copy, so I'll have it printed and the arranged accordingly.

Is that a problem? I don't usually do this but these books cost A LOT and no one's selling them for less than $80. Is it allowed?

  • Also, do you take your Econ 103 book with you to class or do you just take your notebook?
  • The questions at the end of the chapter are different, however there should be a copy on 4 hour reserve that you can just take a picture of the questions from. That's what I did this semester.
  • Hey thank you so much for replying! So that means I can use an older edition right? And is the textbook used in class much? Also this will be my printed version - the teacher won't have any problem with that right?
  • I have a different teacher but I would assume they wouldn't care. However the teacher might want you to do myecon lab which is included with the purchase of a new book.
  • And can that part be photocopied as well?
  • Lol no its online questions, you get a subscription with the new book, or you can buy the subscription. Some teachers use it, others don't. Also, the answers to the textbook questions are on there and not in the book.

  • okay and I'm so sorry for bugging you for what seems like the twentieth time, but I can use the version of the book that I have and buy the subscription separately - that will work too, right? How much does it cost?

    LAST QUESTIONS - I promise.
  • Lol its okay, yeah you can buy it separate if need be. Just wait until the teacher says what is required and go from there .
