Average low application status?

On my sfu application status beside where it says complete it says “Average Low” with the message: “applicants with an average low indicator on their alternate program choice may still be admissible. Admission offers to applicants’ alternate program choice will be made during the week of May 21, 2013.” I have 85% which is the admission average for arts so I don’t understand how it is low. Does anyone know what this means?

The admission average for arts for summer 2013 and fall 2013 is 86%. You might not get accepted if you have less than that.

Oh sorry, it's 85% for the fall 2013.

What courses did you use to calculate your average from?

I used history, First Nations, law, and English. Do you know if they just look at the mark and if its an acceptable course or do they also look at exactly what subject it is? For example would they choose someone taking Maths and sciences over me since those subjects are generally harder?

They don't care what the courses are as long as they are approved grade 12 courses. No priority is given to students who took *harder* courses.
