Transfer to SFU with lower than transfer GPA

edited February 2013 in General
Hello,
I am planning to transfer to SFU from UBC with a rather low GPA of 2.5-ish. However, the admission averages for this year appear to sit at 2.7 at least for pretty much all programs. Is it for certain that I will not get accepted or is it still possible?

  • I transferred from kwantlen with a gpa of 2.5, I think it depends on the department. I transferred to statistics, was put on waitlist during the summer, and then later got in. I think you have a better chance of getting in during the summer since less people apply for that semester. I can't say for sure though.
  • If the minimum is 2.7 and you only have a 2.5 GPA then your obviously not going to get in unless they lower it......
  • You need to hit the minimum or they just tell you to apply next term!
  • Why do you have to come to SFU.....I want to go to UBC...dmn~ Give it a shot, you might get in who knows. The admission criteria are so freaking weird and I will never figure out how they work. The cover letter or the reason you want to transfer to SFU might help you.
