Criminology 135

edited December 2012 in General
Does anyone know what this course is like? Fairly easy or hard? Should I take it at SFU or distance education?

I was planning on taking it distance education because it has no midterm or final and I'm going to be taking 5 courses. Since it has no final there are four essays. I asked the criminology department and they said the essays vary from 1000 to 3000 words. Does that seem high for four essays? Is Boyd a good professor? From what I saw on rate my prof reviews were somewhat mixed.

  • I've taken crim135 distance ed. before and it was okay actually. Yes, there were 4 essays I needed to write: 2 essays approx. 2500 long and other 2 approx. 1250 long. I've never seen professor Boyd, but the TA was really nice and responded very quickly. For participation mark, the TA formed groups and we had to chat online, making opinions and discussing about the topic we for particular chapters. Overall, good experience.
  • Do you remember what the class average was? How fairly were the essays marked?
