CMPT 165 with Fred Popowich Distance Ed

edited November 2012 in General
Alright, I know that there are TONS of posts on what seems to be the most controversial class in terms of easiness. However, I was wondering how did people find Fred Popowich when taking the course distance ed? I'll be honest, I am by no means a computer whiz - I played around with some of the first few labs on Anne Lavergne's cite and they were ok. If I needed a tutor that's fine. However, I am more concerned about the exams...some classes allowed a cheat sheet to be brought to the midterm...does Popowich?

Thank you!

  • As far as I know Popowich has not taught 165 before. I have had him for other courses though, and he is a good prof. Since it is distance though chances are you will probably never really see/hear from the prof, so it doesn't really matter who is 'teaching' it.

Scanning the course outline it looks like he is using greg bakers study guide as the textbook, which is what is used for all of the cmpt 165 classes for the last while. So I would expect the offering to be the same as distance cmpt 165 from this semester and the one before etc.

In summary I don't think it will be any harder or easier than any recent offering of the course.
  • Thank you for your feedback! :) I have decided to stick with it.
