Math 152 vs 155 vs 158

edited November 2012 in General
I've got these three choices as a cs major.
But as for 155 and 158, I need to get B+ or higher in order to get it considered
Any opinions from people who took any of these courses would be appreciated.

  • Why not do math 150 or 151?
  • I already took it.
  • Personally I would just take 152. Or swap into software systems and avoid it and macm 316 all together.
  • Hmm. Never thought of that. What is the difference between software systems and cs? I've taken a look at the program requirements and it seems there is practically no math.
  • Yeah, only required math is calc one and macm 101/201. In general Software systems is more focused on software development, where computer science is technically more theoretical. That said though the majority of kids who do cs degrees go into software development and not research. So instead of the extra math, sosy has things like cmpt 373 which is a project course, cmpt 473 on quality assurance, and requires courses like cmpt 379.
