Phil110 or Phil120?

edited October 2012 in General
Hi all,

I'm supposed to take a Phil course for my crim
requirements. My options are 110 and 120. They are both Hums and Writing
so I think it would be tough. Anyone can give me a word of advice,
perhaps? I'm kind of reluctant to take 110 because it's logic and
reasoning (sounds a lot of probability stuff in math, which I'm very bad
at).

Thanks,
Jill.

  • Why are your options only 110 or 120? For a crim major you should be able to take any PHIL course http://students.sfu.ca/calendar/criminology/crim-maj.html

I took PHIL XX1 with Heidi and the course content is very easy to understand (for the most part) but midterms and the final are difficult. It is not a GPA booster but it fulfils your Q requirement
  • The logic and reasoning has nothing to do with probability, etc. The only one that's quantatative is XX1. I took 110 with Heidi and there's two essays, a midterm, and a final. Midterm was all MC, final half MC, half definitions.
  • 110 might have been different when you took it. According to outlines online it is a Q course, and most of the offerings seem to be only tests and assignments. No essays. Also I don't see 110 as being a W course, so you might want to double check that.
  • Ahh you're right, I meant 100W
