Full classes

edited July 2012 in General
Anybody else having trouble getting into the classes that they want?

My enrollment appointment started just a few minutes ago, and I can't get into ECON 103 because it's full or CMNS 110 because it's reserved. What do I do now? I can't get into 50% of the classes that I wanted to take!

Anyone know the chances of ECON 103 opening up?

  • wait til first week of class, also talk to the professor to see if he/she will let you in
  • question from another student in the same boat.
When is a good time to talk to the prof, during the first week or before class starts.  Also if the all the labs are full can they still bump you in?
  • first week of class, they're either tell you to wait for someone to drop or let you in...but if the class has tutorial/lab then you have to get a spot in them otherwise the prof can't do anything
  • talk to the department advisor. talking to the professor does you no good most of the time unless it's a seminar class which are generally 4th year classes.
  • Sadly, full classes at SFU is a perennial problem...
  • There's usually a lot of turnover during the first week of class. If you can get a spot on a waitlist, there's a reasonably good chance you'll get into whatever courses you're trying to enroll in.
