visiting student @ ubc?

I am a sfu student, working and studying at a same time.

I have some troubles with my work and have to move to Vancouver West soon.

So I was thinking about moving to UBC, and i found out that I was too late for this year's admission.

I talked to one of the officers at UBC and she told me to come as a visiting student for an year, and then apply for full time student next year.

I never heard about visiting student, so does anybody have an idea?

so my plan is to go as a visiting student (2nd year) and be a full time student at my 3rd yr.

My GPA is ok i guess, (it's around 3.5+),

I was wondering would it be safe, and will i be accepted at UBC next year? otherwise i will have to come back to SFU again.. :(

    Your GPA's really good.
    You'll get accepted for sure.. :)
    I would listen to the UBC officer and go there as a visiting student first.
    Many students do that and it's quite common before they transfer to different schools. (the benefit of visiting student is that you can always come back if you don't like there)

    UBC requires a month to process your documentation if it is approved and sent by SFU program advisors, who are in charge of SFU end of process. Also SFU doesn't like to allow students to "visit" other post secondary education institutions if the course is already offered during each semester, which you can apply. You also have to maintain a certain minimum grade for course to transfer back to SFU.

    What the person on top said, also just transfer all your stuff over to UBC
