Taking Econ 103/Econ 105/Math 157 in one semester?

edited March 2012 in General
Basically, is this an impossible combination?  Will I just have to work hard, or is it completely undoable?  I barely got a B (73%) in Math 12.

out of all the 4 courses i took in fall sem with menz, this was the hardest one for me
lots of work, loncapa work and weekly assignments are mandatory. Keeping up with the extra practice in the textbook was hard, didn't end up doing it. 2 midterms in the sem, definitely not enough time to do and check over unless you know you stuff really really well, final made up for it though. There's a diagnostic test 1 or 2 week in, study! if not you'll have to attend a weekly 1 hour workshop for the rest of the term. would be great if you took calc in high school. I got 91% in math 12 and it didn't help at all or maybe i'm just retarded and forgot everything in math 12.

pretty chill, detailed notes in lecture so you don't really need the textbook unless you actually do the tutorial questions which isn't for marks. midterms were pretty long one question is like a-j, all short answers.

interesting lectures, attend lectures and you can skim textbook or the other way around. not a lot of work, weekly assignment questions which you can split among your group of 3 or 4 so 1-2 questions each person. midterm not that hard.

  • I took all 3 of those courses you've listed with an additional course in the fall 2011 semester and was able to pull of pretty decent marks. For math 157, I suggest you practice the questions over and over again. PatrickJMT from youtube will be a very useful source as he goes over pretty much all the questions you'll be doing. For econ 105, I just read the notes and that was sufficient for exams. As for econ 103, I struggled a bit because of the weird graphs but luckily, the exams were easy!
    GOOD LUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK
  • people made fun of me for failing the diagnostics test so I got my act together, reviewed a couple of hours per week and managed to pull off an A-! YOU CAN DO IT TOO!
  • lol i failed my diagnostics too, the workshops sucked... i felt like i was being treated like a legit retard.
  • I failed the diagnostic too LOL, but managed an A+. People in the workshop were asking what's the difference between y and f(x).. try not fail it, it's time consuming. Although it may be useful for you. I took the exact same courses as u in my firsst semester here. u just gotta manage ur time and try doing all ur assignments before lecture
