Living in McTaggart-Cowan Hall

edited December 2011 in General
Hey guys. I'm an exchange student for the Spring term 2012 and I've been assigned to live at McTaggart-Cowan Hall. Should I be worried? Cause from what I've read and what I've heard it's not that great. Any suggestions or tips?

  • some people have been sexually assaulted there

u should b worried and ask to move somewhere else
  • You're kiddin' right?
  • This is the first time I've heard that...
  • i think its just someone being an idiot.. sorry we couldnt be of more help
  • As the Associate Director of Residence I would like to respond.

Mariana, McTaggart Cowan has been recently renovated with new floors and kitchens. It is one of our traditional residence hall spaces that has you sharing common spaces (kitchen, bathroom, lounge) yet you have your own private residence room.

As for the sexual assaults, this is untrue and I am sorry that someone said this. Our residences have the lowest (meaning high numbers of staff per resident) ratio of student to Community Advisor (Student staff responsible for the safety of all residents) of most institutions. There is also 7 people on call each night to help with any emergency or issues that are arising. Additionally the campus has 24 hour security. Our residents report being very safe both on campus and in residence.

I would be happy to talk to you more about buildings and the great year you have ahead.

  • lmao, guess the truth hurts huh. keep deleting my comments, i'll just keep posting. they cover up every bad incident so the public doesn't know. sfu pays the news stations money so that they keep quiet.
  • do you have anything to back up these claims? i would expect more than just heresay from a university student... show us some facts
