Coreq question - i think i fkd up

edited November 2011 in General
I'm in Arts trying to transfer to science.

Physics has a coreq requirement where i have to take bio101/102 and math154.

I'm currently in bio, and was going to take physics and math next semester.

Does coreq mean all the courses have to be in the same TERM?

Can i take math154 and phy next semester? Or do i HAVE to add  bio102 for next sem?

  • coreq means they have to be taken at the same time (or before as a prereq, depending on the class), unless its stated that it's recommended and not required.  Are you talking about PHYS 101?  I never had to take a BISC when a took the class, but that was a few years ago.

If you take BISC 101 this semester, which I think is now a coreq for PHYS 101, you should be able to take PHYS 101 and MATH 154 next semester.  A coreq means at the very least, the class needs to be taken at the same time, but taking it before hand is even better.

  • ohh thanks! So coreq basically means you have to complete the courses anytime?
  • It means that you have to complete the coreq course BEFORE or AT THE SAME TIME as the course requiring the coreq. It might be useful to think of it as a prerequisite that says you can take the courses at the same time instead of one after the other.
  • Do people who have recieved entrance scholarships get early enrollment dates for the next 4 years or just first year?
  • If they maintain a GPA high enough to keep the scholarship (or get the open undergraduate scholarship after the last installment of their entrance scholarship), they will continue to have early enrollment dates.
  • thank you! I think I'll take math and physics next sem. I've already finished bio :)
  • Does anyone know if physics 101 tutorials are like chem 121 where you dont have to show up or can go to any tutorial time you want?
  • When I took it, PHYS 101 tutorials were open tutorial, where you just show up whenever you want to.
