Help! Barely failed a course before grad

edited August 2011 in General
Hi, I really need help with what I can do at this point. I got 48% final grade for one of my courses this term (did horrible on the final), and received failing grade on My Grades. I have failed to reach the instructor and TA in person, by email and phone which I have not received a response for a week.

Who can I talk to in order to help me get a passing grade?

I absolutely have no time for another term.

  • so.. you are trying to call your prof/ta to change your failed grade to a passing grade?

is this a curve class? If not, I don't see how the professor can change your grade to a pass (especially if it is a MC/non-essay based exam. If it an essay based test, you could beg the prof to remark your exam to see if he will pass you.

The professors/TA probably aren't responding cause is their vacation time. I'm sure they don't want to deal with any past semester issues until Fall starts.

Most of the staff will just tell you to re-take it. Especially in 4th year/upper level courses, they are pretty strict on grades.

Not trying to sound pessimistic, but the fact is, you failed a class, to  you have to take the consequence of it!
  • should of studied harder. dont piss and moan about an outcome u could have prevented.
  • HAHAHAHA!  YOU SUCK
  • Contact the Faculty Advisor for the faculty that you are graduating from.
  • It's probably too late for this person, but here's some general advice:

If you missed a pass by 2%, there's probably something that can be done to get you over the bar. It will require an act of mercy by the TA to lobby on your behalf, but it's not a big deal.

I would suggest that you (a) chill out, (b) be calm, (c) be respectful, & (d) be prepared. Your TA is probably marking papers while trying to complete their own term papers and do the final cram for their own exams. They're not going to respond to emails within 24 hours, and your prof won't respond at all unless the TA asks them to. The window for changing grades is a few weeks, so it's not a big hurry.

It would be really helpful if you examined your marks over the semester and suggested a place where they might make a tiny change that would do the trick for you. Would changing a C- to a C on one paper do the job?

If you skipped tutorials, turned in work late and maintained a generally piss-poor standard throughout the semester, you're not likely to get help. And if you're an asshole (like the MoFos above), forget about it.
