Crim 330, crim 320 DE....shall I do it?

edited February 2011 in General

Hey guys...Im just looking at my schedule for summer semester....and I'm debating whether I should take Crim 330 and 320 via DE. I do learn better on my own and I've taken DE courses before and have done well in them.

So...anyone taken either of these courses DE? OR even in class..how were they in class?

Thanks!

  • my friend graduated from the crim program and he said he did almost half of his degree via distance education.. so if your the type of person that can study and get your assignments done without any supervision, it's definitely a good way to go. saves having to go up the mountain for a couple of classes, especially in the summer when theres so many other things to do :P
  • ah cuz i heard 330 and 320 are pretty hard in class, so i was thinking maybe i should do it online. how did he find those 2 courses?
  • my logic is the other way around.. if i know the course material is hard.. i prefer to take in class than online..  ehlp isn't always readily available through distance ed.. you post something on webCT or FirstClass (do they still use this?) and sometimes there's no replies.. atleast that was my experience with some courses..
  • i'm planning to do 330 DE in the summer also! not sure how it'll be though.

and i'm currently doing 320 DE . it's stats but with more focus on certain topics. the TM (hilary morden) is pretty helpful with the assignments. she goes over it with us using Elive (pratically giving the answers).  The research proposal, however, was hell ! half the class failed...she marked it really hard =/  We just got our midterm marks back.. which was better than the proposal haha.

I guess.. if you keep up with the readings and really go over the stuff with the TM, you should be fine...so far i have aced the assignments =]

  • I'm also planning to do Crim 320 DE since I'm afraid that I won't be getting a spot in the fall or following semesters.

To feez108: is there any way you can post the outline so we see what it looks like?

  • the outline for 320 is

    Five Online Assignments (30%)
    Research Proposal (20%)
    Midterm (20%)
    Final (30%0
