Don't the requirements for CRIM 135 DE seem a bit high for a first year course?

edited January 2011 in General
I mean, I get that the only components of the course are the four assignments, then weekly discussion posts, but the lengths seem insane compared to every course I've taken so far.

Assignment 1 (10%) - 1500 word essay.
Assignment 2 (35%) - 4000 word essay.
Assignment 3 (10%) - 1500 word essay.
Assignment 4 (35%) - 1500 word essay and 2500 word essay.

Just kind of sucks that the term just started and I think this is going to be more work than all of my other classes, all of which are higher than 100-level (BUS 254, BUS 303, and BUS 381).

Am I crazy? xd

  • wow.. they really upped their game since i took the course.. back then we didn't have weekly discussion posts.. just the essays..

and yes you are crazy.. but we all are.. just a tid bit.. ;p
  • Well, to ask that question you just wrote about 100 words. It probably took you less than five minutes. Assuming you know something about your topic, you should be able to find 5 or 6 things about twice that long to talk about. Add introduction and conclusion. Bam, paper done.

For 10% of your grade, that's fair. No?

You're right though. It seems like a lot of writing for a first year course.
  • i looked up on the calendar and it seems criminology upper division class is quite less compared to other department, so i think the school of crim is combining lower division classes with upper division..so then the majors can do a joint degree in their 3rd and 4th year with sociology or psychology...since crim is a branch from those major fields...and thus, crim 135 is undoubtedly one of those "combining" course.
