I'll offer one dollar more than him for notes. :P

Yeah, I'm feeling screwed for the midterm because his notes are just a bunch of letters in formulas. I think I'm gonna check out the textbook tomorrow or something, since he said he put a few reserve copies in the library.

I had a macro class way back in the day but buggered if I know where my notes went. Sorry. :(

Definitely check out McConnell, Brue and Barbiero. They wrote a pretty good textbook.

did he even teach us how to answer some of those in the fill in the blanks?

ie: the productivity vs gdp q..

and the 2nd multi choice question.?
  • edited June 2010
I can't remember the productivity one... care to remind me?

Quite a bit of the fill in the blanks sounded very different than the notes made of stuff. I was so confused, even though I studied quite a bit. And the calculations for the first written question was very challenging I though, though the other two weren't as bad.

    Hey desolate,

I missed class today as I was sick, do you thinK i could copy your notes on Monday?
  • edited June 2010
Monday or at class on Tuesday?

Monday I have class from 9:30 to 11:20am, so anytime after if you want to catch up and copy them that's fine. Or just meet outside the lecture hall on Tuesday or something before class and you can copy them.

Hey are you going to be going to tutorial this week? I have an appointment set for 5pm on Tuesday, and my tutorial is at 4:30, and I still want to get the answers for this week's questions. Was gonna cancel the appointment, but it's the only time they have that fits my schedule in the next two weeks.

My tutorial is on a wednesday at 11:30 in the morning, I will get it and then scan it/give it to you in person.

ps - text me or shoot me off an email or something next time because I only get little chances to visit here. I noticed you sent this over 24 hours ago.. I just got around to signing on now.

I actually only sent it four or five hours ago, so don't worry about it. :P But yeah, next time I'll just send you a text or something, it's a lot easier that way.

I guess you were in my class. I've been waiting for the marks. Saw your post and thought marks must be up, although the prof said Monday.

Man you did better than me at least. I'm not sure what happened. I just didn't do as well on that final as I thought I would. Did fine on the midterms, but not sure what happened at the end.

I guess it's time to move on and learn from this... I still have to take ECON 103.

Yeah I guess I was :P I dunno, Eldar's style of teaching just didn't work for me. I'm more of a textbook studier, so just using his notes was definitely a change of pace.

My only saving grace was writing down 50% as my weighting. I got 67% on the first midterm and 68% on the second midterm, so I beat the class average on both (though just barely on the second). Then I got 62% on the final, and he said class average on the final was 64% when I went to see my exam on Friday. Econ just isn't my subject I don't think. This was actually the lowest mark I've gotten in a class since I was in grade 5 and got a C in fine arts hahah. I normally work pretty hard, and do well because of it, but even though I put in a lot of work studying for the final, my mark fell right around the average.

I'm doing ECON 103 with Iryna Dudnyk next term, so hopefully that'll work out better.

Lucky you. I did below avg on the 1st and above on the 2nd. My Final was a pass, but low pass. I really though I going going to hit 75-80% range. Guess not.

Eldar is a cool guy and all, and not having a book wasn't too bad. I just didn't like the fact that your mark really comes down to 1 test. Think about the people, and I talked to a few who transferred 80% to the final. And since the average was low, I assume a lot of people must have failed or gotten a low mark.

Also I wish we had assignment marks of quizzes. Just relying on 1-2 tests is tough, because if you make 1 mistake your done.

Good luck on 103. I was thinking of taking it,. but it didnt fit in so I'll look at it in Spring.

I thought I would get around 75% on the final as well. :| When I got home I was second-guessing myself for not increasing the weighting to 70 or 80, but looking back I'm so glad I made the right decision.

And yeah, that was the part I hated. Getting a good mark partially relied on how much of a risk you were willing to take, and it could go both ways. Much prefer it when the prof transfers your mark only when you do better. And, likewise, I wish there were some assignments that accounted for like 10% of your mark or something, and reduce the final to 40%.

Also, good luck with everything! I'll let you know how BUEC 232 and ECON 103 go. :P
