Blackberry and SFU email

edited March 2010 in General
I'm wondering if anyone who has data and has email set up on their blackberry if and what they may have done to get their SFU emails pushed from the SFU email inbox to the blackberry.

I tried just setting up xxx@sfu.ca on my BB and it worked except it doesn't push emails that are sent to my xxx@sfu.ca account to my blackberry device. I can send emails perfectly fine but nothing seems to go the other way. I've re-sent the service books and that doesn't do much.

I also followed some PDF file from SFU and setup a BIS email and tried to use that as the forwarding address under SFU email preferences but it doesn't seem to push that way either.

All in all, I want to set up an email on my BB for my xxx@sfu.ca so when I receive emails it will send it to my blackberry but it doesn't seem to be working. Sending an email from my xxx@sfu.ca off of my blackberry seems to work fine but receiving emails from my xxx@sfu.ca on my blackberry does not.

I dont think my phone is broken because if I'm sending emails to myself (from my email to myself as a test, it pops up on my blackberry and my inbox fine). It just seems like emails from EVERYONE else are not going through which makes no sense.

Any solutions apart from what I have done?

P.S. Rogers tech support is/was pretty useless so I've kind of thrown that option out.

Figured it out.

Thanks

Try setting up a gmail account that imports your SFU account, then have gmail push stuff to your blackberry.

The only downside is that gmail checks your SFU email periodically, so you might not get the emails until 10-15 minutes after they hit your SFU account. You also might be able to set your SFU account to forward directly to the gmail account. This should solve the problem, but I haven't tried it.

I can receive emails from my sfu account on my BlackBerry just fine. I followed the setup wizard step by step. Mine is 9000, if that makes any difference.

I have an 8900 but I'm not sure. I'm starting to think there is something wrong with my phone.

I guess I'll just call into rogers and see what they have to say.

I thought about this but I have so many things linked up to my sfu account that it'd just be troublesome to do that.

SFU emails are supposed to work. I know hotmail doesn't 2way sync.

Gmail is supposed to work but I guess I'll try that as a last resort before I finally conclude it actually might be my phone

Set up a filter to forward all e-mails from your SFU account to your gmail account.

You don't need to wait 10-15 minutes for gmail to check it. You'll get it the instant your SFU account gets it. It'll forward it right away.
