    Paul Garfinkel?

It really depends on who is teaching it. I took it a few years ago with a sessional and we spent 2/3 of the class talking middle ages, and raced through to WWI in like 2 lectures.

If Garfinkel is teaching it in the Spring, then I'd say you're in luck. He's a good prof who specializes in modern Italian history. I agree with hikin that it is probably very similar to History 12 in HS, especially the way Garfinkel will probably teach it.

He likes films a lot, so you may watch some video.

Garfinkel is the best prof in the History department. Why does he scare the crap out of you, hikin?

italian film history. i just thought that the work load was insane thats all.

sorry if you're offended, thats just my opinion.

Not offended at all, hikin. Makes no difference to me whether you like or dislike him. I just thought it funny that you think he's "scary". I've taken two courses with him and loved them both. And I found Garfinkel to be highly amusing and very approachable. Fair, too.

Now I am curious...I'm thinking of taking the film & history seminar but am now wondering about the "insane workload". I've heard only great things about the class. What was your experience?

it was hard for me to follow because i'm no very good with other langauges, and many of the films were in italian.

makes sense because its an italian film history class.

in lower div hes a very approachable and nice guy, funny too. hes also very approachable in upper div but the work load was quite large.

    have fun in his class.
