Which of these philosophy classes should I take?

edited December 2009 in General
Will probably do it in the summer, along with a political science class, now that I have an idea of what I want to double major in.

My options are:
PHIL 001-3 Critical Thinking
PHIL 100-3 Knowledge and Reality
PHIL 110-3 Introduction to Logic and Reasoning
PHIL 120-3 Introduction to Moral Philosophy

Phil is definitely not my thing, but I need to suck it up and do it for my Crim major. Any personal experiences or advice with any?

I want to get it over and done with ASAP so I can get on with it. I mean, I'll have to take POL 210 at some point and deal with philosophy again, but I'm trying to keep it to a minimum.

Thanks :)

I have four friends in XX1 right now. Three of them have been under the class average and hovering around 50% on both midterms, while the other is getting like a B, which may go up depending on the curve. So I'm kinda skeptical about it.

120 sounds like the most interesting, but I've heard bad stuff about it.

What about 100 was easy? Was it based mostly on exams or papers?

Really? I hated 100W. It's either you get it or you don't.

i enjoyed 120, the prof and course content is alright but the TA are useless.. you hand in a draft for a research paper and they either like it or they don't.. and when you go ask them why or how you can improve on your paper.. they can't give you the helpful advice.. very frustrating..

i had it with tiffany (don't know if he still teaches it now) but he gives you a list of questions a week before the exam.. and the final is basically questions pulled out of that list..

    Seriously? XX1 easiest course ever.
It's still Macintosh, and my brother's in that class, so I know you guys are still using the same book and notes.

I barely studied and got an A.

XX1 would probably be the most useful, but so many people are struggling with it. Vonnie, I think most people either think philosophically or don't. You're probably grouped into the former, correct?

I find XX1 is just like using logic.

Hm... I dunno what to do.
My friend told me that 100 is way easier, but some of you are sounding like XX1 is pretty easy as well.

I took Critical Thinking (at college, not at SFU), and found it to be one of the most useful courses I ever took. Sure it's easy to say that that stuff is just common sense, but the course does improve your thinking.

110 sucks. I took last semester w/ peter horban as the prof. It's like taking a math class. The TA I had was incompetent also, but that's just bad luck I guess.
