Hist 363

edited December 2009 in General
I know there's a few history majors here, even then, this is still kind of a long shot, but is anyone taking Hist 363 this semester?

If you are... was there a lecture yesterday? Cause I went to class, and there was absolutely no one there. And also, did Ede send out the textbook yet? And has the question for the first short report been handed out yet?

no there was no lecture yesterday. he cancelled it, hence why we didnt have tutorials this week. also, he hasnt sent out the textbook yet either.

Oh good, at least that means I didn't miss out anything.

Any word on the short essay though for stream A? Is that still going to be due on the 22nd?
  • edited September 2009
probably will be. i'm doin stream b.

off topic, but ede is an awesome prof right?
I think he's the best one I've had at sfu so far.
  • edited September 2009
yeah ede is a cool guy, you had a class with him before?
  • edited September 2009
I mean it's my first term, so I can't compare him to many teachers, but he's a great prof... too bad the material is so terrible/boring.

For HIST 110 that is, though I'm pretty sure 363 is just a continuation of that.

    Alright, thanks man.
  • edited September 2009
    no problemo.
  • edited September 2009
hey are you doing stream a or b?
  • edited September 2009
I've decided to do stream b, I realized having to had in a series of papers was not at all convenient compared to just handing in one.

Do you know the criteria for the research proposal? Like what exactly are we supposed to explain in the 3 pages, and how many sources do we need to cite for it? Do we need to incorporate those sources into the proposal? Or just list them?

i have no idea dude, i just kinda threw something together that sorta made sense and wrote an annotated bibliography for it.
  • edited September 2009
Huh. Guess Ede's not one for instructions.
  • edited September 2009
well you gotta go up to him and ask. then he'll give you a boat load of details. i emailed him earlier and he replied with some helpful comments.

    Wow. Research proposal fail.
  • edited October 2009

  • edited October 2009
You, I and everyone else except for that one asshole.
  • edited October 2009
yeah, the guy was like. oh i got a B how disappointing lol. what a douche.
  • edited October 2009
When I took his class last year pretty much everyone failed the research proposal then too. Luckily he let everyone resubmit without taking any marks off.
  • edited October 2009
i took his 400 level class and it was the same thing
  • edited October 2009
Have you re-submitted you proposal yet?

Is there a specific due date he wanted for those?
  • edited October 2009
yeah i resubmitted it on wednesday. i think he wants it back asap, dont think theres a penalty though.
  • edited October 2009
Ok, as long as there's no penalty. Because honestly, between midterms and more midterms, I am in no mood at at all to redo my proposal. I'll probably hand it in on Wednesday.
  • edited October 2009
i have no real clue as to if theres a grade penalty but thats what i'm guessing cause a ton of people didnt hand it in on wednesday
  • edited October 2009
I wouldn't be surprised, I mean, this is midterms week, I'm sure he understands that everyone probably has more important things to do this week than re-writing a proposal.
  • edited October 2009
Where did you get most of your sources from? Jstor?
  • edited December 2009
Hey Hikin, did you get the email from Ede? If I read this right, he's pushing the research essay date to Monday?
