iPhone plans
So.. I'm going to get an iPhone soon, and I need some help getting a contract that isn't too much of a rip off.
I've know people love to talk about their cell phone plans, how much of a deal they got, and how to play the retentions game, but I'm still clueless. I've never had a contract and always used pay-as-you-go.
Basically, I just want a plan that has:
- ~200 minutes (Free e/w seems to be standard these days)
- 500mb to 1g of data
- some texting
- something like my5 unlimited call/text would be nice to have, but not necessary.
I don't need Call display, Voicemail, long distance, or anything else.
I can get this for roughly $55-65 a month (after fees) with advertised plans, but I've heard that this would be paying way too much.
So, cell phone gurus, what would be a good price for that kind of plan?
Edit: also, what kind of plan do you have and what are you paying?

And here's the Fido plans: http://fido.ca/web/page/portal/Fido/MonthlyPlans?forwardTo=monthlyPlans
To get the deal on the iPhone, you have to get a data package (you'll need it anyways)
Hope that helps man, welcome to the iPhone world :D
I ended up going with Fido, for $55/month.
-6 gigs of data
-unlimited text
-only 100 minutes (by the second, and if I run out, I can always VOIP with some of my data)
The only problem is I had to settle for a 3G instead of a 3GS, but I still have 15 days to cancel/return, so I'm going to try and work something out with them.
I know what you mean about the 3GS...I've been trying to get it for a few weeks now but their out of stock all over BC and no idea when they'll get more. Theirs a few people selling on Craigslist, but theres no way I'd pay $750 for a phone! Wait and see I guess...
How do you like it so far btw? Theres a thread somewhere about connecting automatically to the SFU WiFi network so that you don't have to enter your password everytime...let me see if I can find it.
