SFU Parking Lot Pass

edited August 2009 in General
Hello..

Supposed you are being 'rented' a g-lot pass, how would that work?
If you pay the guy say $200, you get the pass. But can't he just go to the parking services and say he lost his pass, rendering the pass that he gave you useless and void?

How does one go about this parking pass business?

keep in mind your lic plate also needs to be in the system, u can have the parking pass all u want but can still be ticketed/towed if your lic plate is not in the system

make sure that he/she adds your vehicle details to his/her g lot pass.

    pay him/her. get his/her pass.

if he says he/she lost it and you continue using it, you'll get screwed because parking services will think you stole it to use. make sure you get down some of his details so you know where to find him/her if things go south.

I've been told its cheaper to just get a new license plate after your 2nd ticket as oppose to paying for all the tickets. Should think about going that route if you're only up there a couple days a week

Arent the universities no longer allowed to issue tickets with fines? And now they just warn you that they will boot you and youll be responsible for having it removed?

you have to pay for the removal of the boot or pay for the towing. which is usually alot more than ticket costs, especially the towing part.

Even if your licence plate isn't in the system or the person you bought it from reports it stolen its pretty unlikely anything happens to you. I just assume the parking person goes around the lot and checks to see if you're displaying a pass and moves on if you are.
