This ever happened to one of you?
The course outline for POL 100 this fall says we need 'Studying Politics, Second Edition'. So I found someone on Craigslist selling a copy for $50... so I bought it today... then looking closer on mySFU, the ISBN references the Third Edition of the textbook. I emailed the prof. and he said we will be using the third edition. I feel like such a fool.
Since this textbook is an older edition, would I be able to sell it back to the bookstore? I guess it's only $50, but still, I'm kind of annoyed about the whole thing.

The only place where you might run into trouble is if the prof assigns a lot of questions from the text which have changed from one edition to another. You could ask him if he'll do that.
And no, you won't be able to sell it back to the bookstore. Once the new edition is in use, they have no reason to take the old ones.
