Explore BC
What are some of your favorite places around BC to visit in the summer?...places that really make you feel like your in BC and provide a whole day of fun.
One of my favorite places to hang out in Summer is the North Van area by Esplanade/Marine Dr. Walking around by the docks you really get a sense of the history of BC and then the big Q market provides a very unique experience as well. With the ferries running and nice sun shining that area is a really good place to spend a day and get a sense of what BC's all about. From the there the journey could easily continue over Lions Gate bridge to Stanley and from there, Downtown.

hmm.... Grouse grind for sure.
I did this drive with some friends during one of the Red Bull rallys. I'm pretty sure that counts as exploring BC. It's a good day trip if you like driving.
I simply said it reminded me of BC.
i'm just saying that in general everyone i know is always "hey lets do the grind", or "man i did the grind yesterday", or "the grind is the most hardcore trail out there"
thats all, didnt mean to piss in your corn flakes.
So my friend and I opted for a different trail, which involved more rocks, dirt, and crossing streams.
As for going to do the Grouse grind--it's something I've never done before, and it would be cool to do it at least just once. I think it's "overrated" because it's the most famous "trail" out there among non-hikers. So I can understand why actual hikers don't like it.
Kind of like how some people think Britney Spears has musical talent, while they don't really listen to much music or understand what musical talent is. Guess it just happens.
It's very difficult--as it is just a set of stairs that seem to go on forever. Normal people call it a hiking trail, which is a common mistake.
Hikers tend to call it overrated because they don't welcome suggestions that Grouse Grind is a HIKING trail.
A hiking trail consists of a much rougher terrain than stairs.
So (IMO):
1. Grouse Grind is hard core AS A LONG SET OF STAIRS PLACED OUTDOORS.
2. Grouse Grind is overrated AS A HIKING TRAIL.
anyways, bella coola, sushuwap lake, prince rupert, are cool places in bc.
but hiking a designated path isnt too difficult is it? as long as your in good enough shape i don't see how it can be difficult?
Is rock climbing categorized under hiking?
Those that are part of number 1 called it the shit.
Those that are part of number 2 call it bullshit. The grind is easy enough that you do not need a trail-specific runners. A designated path isn't really hiking, it's got all the necessary apparatus to make it easy enough not to call it a hiking trail (ie. man-made stairs, holding bars, large directional markers). Being in shape is preferred, if you think are in shape due to the amount of time you've spent in gyms, think again.
Rock climbing isn't considered hiking.
