I'm Ryan and I'm headed to SFU for the fall semester. I'm from Hawaii but I'm kind of a dork and no, I do not surf. In fact, I'm not near the beach at all, I don't have a beautiful hawaiian lover, nor do I live a house made of coconuts.

I'm looking forward to Vancouver and meeting some new people and doing some new things because living on a tiny rock can really make someone go crazy. I hope it's going to be a great experience and that I will talk to you all in future.

Its definitely going to be a change for me, and any advice for a new student would be great. Otherwise just say hi!

when I saw the title, I was expecting some person from Montreal. ceci ne'st pas un thread, alors qu'est-ce que c'est?

Hawaii is awesome, waikiki beach is like a paradise. Too bad a lot of places around town doesn't use aircon, though. Asian girls galore on the beach! I also miss paying a premium for purchasing macadamia nuts at the factory.

    welcome to the forum :D

i surf, live near a beach, have lived in a house made from the leaves of coconut trees, and spent 3 days living off of just coconuts :D

maybe now that you're over in vancouver you can try,

snowboarding, living near a mountain, spending time living in a house made from trees, not being a dork :D

It seems like most people are associating Hawaii with Honolulu. I happen to live on the island that's all farms, jungles, and wild pigs so it's a bit more boring. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

well Waikiki is probably the first thing that jumps into peoples minds when they think Hawaii since the beach is pretty famous
if i were to go back, which i wouldn't do, id hit up Maui

can i ask why u never picked up surfing? everytime i go to a beach with decent waves i try and work on my surfing but im still a noob lol

I don't know, I just never got into it, I'm uncoordinated and not that driven towards it. It's not like a prerequisite to living here. It's kind of funny how I feel like people think of me less when I say that. I know people who don't even go in the ocean and live here.

i far prefer that kinda terrain, especially the jungle, over beaches anyday :P

Nope. There aren't even any velociraptors.

It's not quite jungly enough to attract film crews.

    Welcome man,

I've been to maui oncewhen i was 16. We were in an area called kehey which I think translates to mean "the desert".

I didnt see too many coconut homes when I was there, but certainly lots of babes.

I've never actually explored Hawaii, as it was merely a Hawaii cruise and we had a few hours to kill before our flight back to Vancouver :P

If I were to go back, I would hit up the other islands though. Would also like to see more Volcanoes. But damn I love macadamia nuts :P

I live about 2 hours from the volcano national park. It's pretty cool but the volcanic fog can get pretty bad sometimes. It's just like a big wave of ashy, smokey air that just floats around for days. Macadamia nuts are pretty great, we had a tree at my old house and I really miss it.
