Most people I know with a musical background did quite well in 104 I don't personally know anyone who has taken beginners French but I have taken FREN122 (grade 12 equiv.) and it was not a GPA booster. I think it would be hard to pick up since there is no one-on-one practice which really hepls when your first start out. You are left to do a lot on your own and I don't think there would be enough oral practice in the class where the prof can actually listen, critique, then help you out.

If you've taken up to Harmony 3 you'll ace it.
I wouldn't advise French if you haven't taken it before.
