iPhone OS 3.0 Official release today

edited September 2009 in General
Has anybody upgraded yet? I did it this morning, and it runs great. I had mine jail-broken for a while, and it always ran a bit laggy. So I figured, what the hell, I'd upgrade to 3.0

It runs noticeably faster, plus the new features, like the text message forwarding, MMS capability, and C&P all work and are integrated very well with the touch controls.

My iTouch is on OS 1.15 or some early release. I don't want to pay to upgrade.

Yeah, it sucks that you have to pay to upgrade on the iPod Touch. Comes free on the iPhone, so what the hell.

    I'm assuming yours is a 3g? I don't think there would be a noticable difference on my 2g :(

btw i also noticed it was laggy but only up to 1.1.4 (jailbroken/unlocked)
from 2.0.0 onward it was fine...

    mine wont install it :'(
  • edited September 2009
well its running on my ipod (3.1); was easier than actually connecting to "SFU" (didn't want to load the login page...)

what do you mean by 'it won't install it'?
  • edited September 2009
navigate to http://www.ns.sfu.ca/index.php?target=wireless_configuration using iphone and click "iPhone setup and installation" next it should switch into settings app and make u accept the certificate
mine just loads a grey screen and sits there 4eva

not really important anymore tho cuz im gettin rid of iphone in 1-2days

Why on earth would you get rid of your iPhone...are you going to carry around a laptop from now on?

Although that Nokia Booklet 3G is pretty sweet

i already carry around a laptop...

to clarify i've never thought highly of the iphone since its release. i'll admit my iphones is one of the first that came to canada back when they were released, but i still didnt think too highly of it then.

the iphone does a lot of things, but it does NOT excel at any of them. i can prob bitch (but i wont) about almost every feature on the iphone and how it could be improved... again i used the iphone because price wise it provided the most functionality of all the devices on the market. furthermore, it has a great community of fan boys who make lots of cool apps and provide tons of info on how to mod it to be what you want it to be.

overall tho its a fragile device (screen brakes too easy, known overheating issues, mic/speaker failure, and a few more common issues) that i dont have the time to deal with or watch out for...yes if u take good care of it you may never have any of these problems but i personally am not that careful with it (i was at the start now ive changed my ways)

so what i want from my cellphone is to make/receive calls/txts and be slim
thats why im switching to an SE device ... i really dont need all the functionality of the iphone thus all its "pros" are drawbacks for me
the only smartphone device i might consider is the xpPhone but again i think its a bit overkill :teeth:

(wow that was a long post)
