What's the deal with...
On with the question. What's the deal with kids hanging out front of skytrain stations?
I work at the cafe at Lougheed Skytrain station and I can't help but to notice a large group of scene kids and punks hanging out front of the station, like it's something to do. I recall when I was a kid or at least in high school, there's a large variety of activities available for us... like sports, shopping, gaming at home or at a local arcade, biking and all the good stuff. Hell, I'll go to the beach and try my luck picking up a few girls, knowing the high chances of rejection.
With these kids that hang out front of the station... all they do is smoke, disturb passengers and occasionally start fights with others. It's got me thinking, what's going on with these kids now-a-days that out of everything that's available in the world, A SKYTRAIN STATION?! What's so god damned cool about it? They just stand around... glare at people, talk about douchebaggery and disturb others. There were occasions where I've seen fight broke out for no apparent reason.
I know that the increase of douchebaggery started after 2003, but it wasn't that bad, just a couple of scene kids to make fun of here and there. Now it's just a never ending trend, like people forgetting what it's like to have a life.

Screw Joyce and Columbia! What about Surrey Central or 29th Ave?!
Puts some common sense into people by having a bamboo stick across the face.
also, can u explain how u came up with 2003 as the year when douchebaggery started?
So kids with nothing to do all day go there, chill out, and hopefully one of them decides where to go. If not, then they just gang bang around there until someone shoos them off. It's an annoyance for sure, parents should definitely pay more attention to their kids from an young age and get them proper hobbies instead of just letting them gang bang all day long.
Jane, I agree with you to an extent on that one. As a witness to the gang banging outside, these kids sit there for HOURS without a destination in mind, they don't even ride the train when it's all over. They just mooch and try to ask for free stuff from our cafe and continue the douchebaggery.
Never looked at the other skytrain stations... though I assume they're fine, minus Surrey stations. Just after everyday, practically the same crowds, doing the same things until police or security scare them away.
you'd know if you were cool
You could do what Kelly does on The Office and yell rape, then all the problems go away.
