It'd be advisable to book in advance, because come presentation period you'll have a tough time finding an available projector.

Have fun dealing with the douchebaggery attitudes of the AV people.

we were denied our projector because we were 3 minutes early to pick it up. This was pretty much what the conversation was like:

AV: Hi, how can I help you?
us: Hi, we're here to pick up a projector for crimxxx, we had an appointment for 1:30.
AV: Oh, ok, but it's not 1:30. We don't have a projector for you.
us: but there's a unit right there beside you, and theres 2 projectors being returned right now.
AV: But it's only 1:28, we cannot give it to you. Come back in two minutes.

We stand there for two minutes, ask again. Lo and behold, it's the exact same projector we were pointing out before.

Another thing we saw was this AV person kept on getting a student to spell out their name. I'm sure the guy repeated every letter to the AV guy at least 4 times. And by no means did the person have a foreign accent.

It always helps to book ahead of time just to be safe. You can always call in -- all they need is your name, student#, room location, course, and time.

lucky me i've never had any trouble with the AV people, and i book my projector every other week. I never end up knowing whether I'd need the projector for Monday morning until Sunday night so I have to book it 15-30min before I actually need it.

but i've only booked at the West Mall one...and I use it starting at 8:30am so they're not busy at all at that time.

Oh and if you know you have a presentation at the end of the semester, book early if you know your presentation date. it gets super busy then. I've heard horror stories of students running around trying to get a projector 5 mins before class lol.
