Windows Calendar

edited June 2009 in General
On my HP laptop, there's this calendar programs preinstalled. It's simply named "Windows Calendar."

I reeeeally like and and I want it on my desktop as well (instead of using Outlook... I just refuse to use it!).

Does anyone know where to download it?

I googled it already and got a lot of hits, but they don't give me previews/screenshots so I can't check if it's the right one. And I'm too lazy right now to download every single one  So I'm hoping for a short-cut in case any of your guys know specifically where to download it.

Or is there some way to copy it from my laptop to desktop? It was preinstalled so I'm not sure if I can do that.

Thanks!

If you want a good replacement for windows outlook, download Windows Live Mail. It has the actual Windows Calendar builtin and integrated with more capabilities than the stand-alone you're looking for.

One feature I like about it is that you can actually "schedule" email messages onto the calendar. So say you receive an email regarding an appointment, you can have this email along with its content scheduled into the calendar as an appointment.

If you're just looking for the stand-alone Windows Calendar, you can download it here

I don't think you can download it from that link. You'd probably have to manually copy the executable from a Vista computer to your XP one. I'm assuming you're using XP 'cause otherwise you'd already have the calendar. Even then, I don't think it would work.

You could try Sunbird from the same people who make Firefox.

The first link says "*Requires a Yahoo! Plus account." O_o;; Why would I need Yahoo...

The second link, I don't think you can actually download it? It looks like it's just telling you the stuff that would be inclueded in a laptop...

Since it was preinstalled in my laptop, would the executable file be in there? And yes, I'm using XP.

I downloaded Sunbird, it looks quite nice. But I still like about the Windows one more.
I'm probably being super picky, but I don't like having a new window pop up when I make a new appointment and I don't like clicking another tab to see my different calendars, hahahha.

You can find the program at %ProgramFiles%\Windows Calendar\wincal.exe

Try copying it over to your XP desktop and running it there. I *really* don't think it'll work, but it can't hurt to try.

I'll do it on Thursday.... haha! I don't need to use my laptop as much this semester (which is why I want the calendar on my desktop now) rendering me too lazy to even open it =]

Okay, so I tried it and it doesn't work ='( It's telling me that it isn't a win32 application or something. sadsadsad

You can try Google calender. It's really nice, and there's also a widget you can add onto your desktop. Since you're using XP, you can try downloading Google Desktop instead.

Good question, this is the calendar application I used for a while. It's very customizable and non-obstrusive but still useful...download it from http://www.xemico.com/adc/
