Well, I guess I do mean in terms of partying. I mean that's not why I'm going to university, but from all the rez threads I've read it sounds like SFU rez kids are exceptionally antisocial. I mean do people just go to class and come back and sit in their rooms? Are any floor activities organized? My sister's friend lives in Shell, and she said her floor has mostly introverted international students. Is that the case with SFU residences? Not that I have anything against international students. I just want to be able meet some friendly people and have some fun along with studying.
Join clubs. There's lots of partying and social activities you can do there. We have one to two parties every semester for the club I'm in.
I find the towers are quite different and way more social than the other buildings. Our floor had activities like bowling, dinner, science world, karaoke, skating, etc. And there are residence wide activities that are organized throughout the semester as well.
I'd just say - do residence orientation. 6 days where you have nothing to worry about other than meeting other people who are also new in residence, and could be potential new friends. Most of my current SFU friends are those I met during that week, or through people I met that week.
