GPA booster(mainly to increase my CGPA)

edited April 2009 in General
Im not onwards to my third semester, and i've learned alot from the highschool to university transition.

Now, after two semesters, my CGPA is 1.9, but my 2nd semester's gpa was 2.9. You can say, I sure learned alot after my first semester 8)

My question is, instead of taking hard classes (GPA killers), I should be taking electives towards my degree? Im pursuing a degree in MBB.

What courses under this faculty are GPA boosters? I have registered for Math 155, chem 126 and phys 100. I know these aren't exactly GPA boosters....so I don't want to take the chance of screwing around in any of these classes which will get me kicked out of the school.

According to this degree, 9 credit hours of the 120 total must be electives from outside the faculty of science, and 6 of these credits must be electives from the faculty of arts.

Any courses suggestions? Hopefully I can still swap classes.

Thank you for your time!

I'll be honest...an MBB degree is pretty difficulty. If you're in Sciences and planning on sticking with MBB, then you should learn to work hard right now. Taking easy electives may delay the hard work for a little while, but sooner or later you will have to take some hard classes like MBB, Organic Chem, and Harder Calculus classes.

If you just want to get off AP, then I guess it's OK to look for easy classes but you should realize that you will eventually have to put the work in if you want to complete your degree.

P.S. It's not too late to swap classes

Yeah dude. I took organic chem this semester, and managed a C+ with Peggy Padararu :@

Yeah, I just want Good Academic Standing, then i'll be able to regain my footing.

    Thanks! :D

    Hello there!

I graduated with an MBB degree and I ended up taking Kin 140 and Kin 105 (if I remember the numbers correctly...I graduated a few years ago lol). Those were pretty easy classes and they fall under the Faculty of Applied Science so you can use them as electives. I took both of them by Distance Ed in the summer and it worked out pretty good because the classes were easy. Also, because they were Distance Ed, there’s no lectures to attend (which works out nicely in the summer) and if you’re good at self-directed studying, Distance Ed is ideal.

As far as the Arts electives go, I took English 101 and 102. Those were tough for me because I’m not too good at writing papers lol but out of the other English classes, I think these were the easiest.

Other than that, I’ve got to agree with Simon – an MBB degree is pretty tough, especially when you hit the upper division classes. So, if you know that’s what you want to do, be prepared for the work yet to come! Hope this helps you out and good luck with everything :)
