when are final marks submitted

I want to dispute the mark for my paper, except i don't really care that much because he might only boost me a few points, and im not sure if thats enough to boost me up a letter grade

the final exam was pretty easy and I have in mind what sort of grade I should be getting as a final mark for the course

what i'm wondering is, can you dispute and talk to the professor after u see your mark on go.sfu? because I don't really want to talk to him now, hes kind of an asshole marker and i'm pretty sure he doesnt like me too much haha so I don't want that affecting his judgement on marking my final exam

    disputing your paper may even get you a lower mark

    im pretty sure they can change ur mark even after its submitted for another few months after exam
    dont quote me on that but i had a prof who left the country the day of our final so they said any disputes we had we needed to wait till they returned a few months later.

    im not talking about pissing the prof off either so he marks your exam harder, if you ask them to remark a paper they can mark it higher or lower, and if hes a dick like you say...

    did a TA mark it originally or the prof? personally, if a prof marked my paper i wouldnt even dare ask for a remark

    4/5 classes' marks are already up and the last one isn't up yet cus the exam is on Monday so I suggest you check go.sfu.ca from now til the end of next week.

    I'm pretty sure; I mean, they're on go.sfu.ca. But I'm trying to dispute one of my marks.

    Well if you got an F clearly you have nothing to lose ;P

    You sure you didn't deserve the F? What were his comments on the paper? Or were there any?

    lots of comments
    mostly regarding the lack of effort, poorly researched, poorly put together, etc

    not gonna lie it was a really shitty paper, but I've written worse and still ended up with marks in the 60% range... i think an F is pretty fuckin extreme LOL

    he even gave me a D first, then crossed it out

    See, you admit yourself it was a shitty paper, it doesn't matter what you received in the past in other situations, you don't deserve to have passed with that paper.

    I knew a prof, who when the TA's gave out F's, he would remark the papers and drop the marks from a 40% to an 8% so that way they would actually have to work to pass the class still.

    I won't flame you but honestly asking for re-marks will never happen / help you, unless it was someone else who marked the paper, or if the reason you're asking for a re-mark is they missed a page or something...

    ...as jaydub said and what I was getting at, don't be surprised if your mark goes even lower as a result

    Basically you're questioning his judgement which will never go over well.

    I don't think there is anything worse than a F for Fail. So there is really nothing to lose for 6chr0nic4, at least academically...

    However, 6chr0nic4's paper maybe so bad that SFU needs to create a new grade just for it: EF for EPIC FAIL!

    Look on the bright side, the lowest mark you'll be getting for the course is a D. Professors can't assign Fs unless they go through the Dean and have a very good reason for doing so (well, at least according to my prof).

    He's talking about his paper not his overall mark. The F is just an indication of the total percentage on his paper:

    Say he got 34% and after the remark he got 13% on the essay.

    Yes, and I'm stating there is something to lose, if his F of 34% gets lowered to an F of 10% it will affect is overall grade negatively.

    Say the essay is worth 30% overall, then its even less of the 30% he gets for his overall mark.

    well I left it till the night before to write ... I have a pretty extreme case of procrastination

    it was suppose to be between 10 - 15 pages but around 5 pages I ran out of points to make/argue for my topic

    the last three pages was pretty much bullshit and just repeating what I mentioned in the prior pages, I ended up writing about eight pages

    we had to use at least 6 academic sources, and I had a hard time finding enough evidence from those sources to support my position on the paper

    anyway I ended up with a C+ in that class so I'm relieved I didn't get a D lol I used around the same effort for my other classes that I found were actually harder and ended up with 2 B+s and a B but I guess I won't leave big papers like that last minute anymore
