Procrastination List

edited April 2009 in General
I'm sitting by my laptop, with my study material for HIST 338 Final Exam on my bed.

It's been like this for... oh, 7 hours now, and I haven't flipped a page.

Within the 7 hours, I've:

- Beat the game Dream Chronicles 2 online.
- Leveled up my character in Sorority Life at least 5 levels.
- Ate TimBits.
- Finished a novel for leisure.
- Posted on TalkSFU and other forums.
- Read some Manga at One Manga DOT COM.
- Caught up with Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.

..... AAAAnd fucked around on facebook.

Believe me, the point of this topic is NOT TO give you guys more ideas on how to procrastinate--but rather to help me procrastinate further by making an entire post about it.

But... post your lists, as I'm sure I'm not the only person that says to themselves "I'll use my laptop to help me study" while surfing random websites and playing useless online games. This way I wouldn't feel so bad about my impending doom/failure.

PLEASE HALP!!

You are taking WWII and you didn't tell me!? I may as well be frank, you don't need to study too much for HIST 338 final. Just to give myself some credibility, I took HIST 338: WWII last semester and got an A-.

Instead of flipping over that three "phonebooks", you should instead look over and answer the chapter questions on WebCT. Those questions sums up what you must know from each chapter and if you can answer those questions, you are in good shape. Also, another bonus is that these questions may sometimes be the essay questions on the exam.

For example, during my final last semester, I was asked how did the conducts of the Allies in WWII set the stage of the Cold War? Lucky for me, it was an actual chapter question and I wrote a paper on that...

    1.) Lurking TalkSFU
    2.) Cleaning my room
    3.) Doing laundry
    4.) Craigslist "window" shopping
    5.) Lurking TalkSFU
6.) Planning my HIST 436 paper (haha)

Sweet!! Thanks, Student! That helped me out a lot!

Did you also take the course online?

And did you even read the course readers? (Basically, would it matter if I didn't read them?)

    You are very welcome.
Did you also take the course online?
Yes, I think HIST 338: WWII is only offered online.
And did you even read the course readers? (Basically, would it matter if I didn't read them?)
Well, I only read the course readers when the questions for the class discussions is drawn directly from the course reader. For example, I read the chapters on the Holocaust when I need to figure out the difference between the intentionalist and functionalist argument of the Holocaust and argue on behalf of the intentionalists.

Other than that, my course readers were collecting dusts on the shelf. Here are my recommendations...

1.) Look over the chapter questions
    2.) Answer them
3.) If you are not satisfied with your answers, read the chapters and then answer the chapter questions again

Sheesh, 7 hours?! I thought I was bad. I usually dick around for 30 minutes to 1 hour max.

    My list:

-Play random tunes on my guitar
    -Read news
-Go on TalkSFU here and there
-Listen to music (I can't study while listening to music)
    -Look at my bamboo plant

I once locked my laptop in my car trunk and parked it at SFU and went home without it. Most productive day ever.

    That's nothing.

I'm in HIST 338 currently too.

I had exactly 10 days to finish the paper for the class. I literally procrastinated, or what I like to call, dicked around, for 8 days (192 hours?). Did the paper in 1.5 days and did really well. I don't think I slept though...really wore me down.

I stay up late only to procrastinate.

I got up this morning at 10:30 much later than I usually do. I cleaned my room for a good hour and a bit, getting rid of garbage and stuff that I don't want to bring with me to my new place.

Then I sat on my computer watching the St. Louis and Colorado game occasionally doing a bit of studying.
