I need tech help...

So after some update or something or another, I get this really annoying java console that I cannot close, all I can do is minimize it while my browser is open, even if I move to a non java page. Well I can close it, but only if I close my browser entirely.

I'm on mac osx, and using firefox, does anyone know how to get rid of this thing?? Or at least hide it so I don't have to see it? It keeps loading everytime I use webCT

    does the same thing happen when you use safari?

    also, a quick solution you can try is to do a complete uninstall of firefox and reinstall it. that 'might' fix things. if not let us know.

    Hi, I don't use safari cause it doesnt work for so many sites I go to, but you gave me an idea maybe I should just uninstall java and reinstall. But then I don't understand why this doesn't have some form of java running in the background, and why a console is necessary to begin with.

    It didn't do it before for me, it only just started, for me anyway, but I think I was running a really old version of java, maybe

    give the uninstall a shot and maybe it'll work. make sure to restart after reinstall :D

    Go to /Applications/Utilities/Java and turn it off there. It should be in your Firefox browser. I think there's a checkbox there that says something about opening up a java console.

    Best answer ever. I figured it out thanks to your tip, apparently I have three versions of java in that folder, and the recent one had show console checked off. Hurrah, no more console.
